Meruux Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Meruux (“the Service”), an online platform designed for creative expression, community interaction, and intentional digital connection. By accessing or using Meruux, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions (“Terms”).

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing the platform, or using any part of Meruux, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree, you may not access or use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Meruux.

3. User Conduct

You agree not to engage in any activity that:

  • Violates any applicable laws or regulations

  • Harms or attempts to harm the Service or its users

  • Circumvents, disables, or interferes with platform functionality

  • Harasses, threatens, or abuses any individual

You are responsible for all actions taken under your account.

4. User-Generated Content

Meruux allows users to post text, images, artwork, and other materials (“Content”).
By doing so, you agree:

4.1 Ownership of Uploaded Content

You retain all ownership rights to Content you create.
By uploading it, you grant Meruux a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display and distribute it within the platform.

4.2 Posting Content You Do Not Own

You may not upload content you do not own or have explicit permission to use, including but not limited to:

  • Fanart you didn’t create or purchase

  • Images from other websites without permission

  • Commercial artwork marked “Do Not Repost”

  • AI-generated images of copyrighted characters unless permitted under applicable law or fair-use doctrines

Even if such posts are common on other platforms, Meruux requires users to respect copyright and intellectual property.

4.3 Copyrighted Characters and Fanart

You may share:

  • Fanart you created

  • Fanart you have permission to repost

  • Content explicitly licensed for reuse

  • AI-generated fanart if it complies with copyright laws and platform rules

You may not share:

  • Copyrighted characters depicted in artwork you did not create or license

  • High-resolution scans of books, comics, artbooks, or paywalled content

  • Commercial merchandise or illustrations intended for sale

4.4 Responsibility for Uploaded Content

You are solely responsible for the legality and safety of all Content you upload.
Meruux is not liable for user-uploaded Content but will respond to complaints or takedown notices as required by law.

5. DMCA & Copyright Compliance

Meruux complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) and comparable international laws.

5.1 Takedown Requests

If you believe your copyrighted material has been posted without permission, you may submit a formal DMCA request. Meruux will:

  • Remove or disable access to the infringing material

  • Notify the user who posted it

  • Allow submission of a counter-notification where legally applicable

5.2 Repeat Infringers

Users repeatedly violating copyright may have their accounts suspended or terminated.

6. Prohibited Content

Users may not upload or share content that includes:

  • Illegal material of any kind

  • Hate speech or discriminatory content

  • Explicit sexual content involving minors

  • Doxxing or personal information without consent

  • Malware, phishing, or harmful code

Meruux reserves the right to remove prohibited content and take appropriate action without notice.

7. Platform Rights

Meruux may, at its discretion:

  • Modify or update the platform

  • Remove content violating these Terms

  • Suspend or terminate accounts engaged in harmful or illegal activity

  • Limit functionality or access to comply with legal obligations

8. Privacy

Your privacy is important. Meruux will not sell your data or use it for algorithmic manipulation.

9. Monetization and Virtual Goods

Meruux may offer optional paid features such as:

  • Themes

  • Decorative assets

  • Profile upgrades

  • Digital collectibles

Purchases are non-refundable unless required by law.

Meruux will never sell your attention or personal data to advertisers.

10. Liability Limitations

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
Meruux is not liable for:

  • User actions

  • Loss of data

  • Service outages

  • Third-party content or conduct

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Meruux’s total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you to the Service in the past 12 months (if any).

11. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time.
Meruux may also terminate or suspend your account if:

  • You violate these Terms

  • You engage in illegal activity using the platform

  • You repeatedly infringe copyright

Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease.

12. Changes to Terms

Meruux may update these Terms occasionally.
If significant changes occur, users will be notified through site announcements or email.
Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Meruux operates.
Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or small claims court, unless prohibited by local law.
